Lovely atmosphere. I don't mean to be nasty but have you ever seen a real wolf and fox? I think you should consider your scale. Fox hunting is a wildly debated subject in the UK, if foxes were that big I don't think there'd be a problem, the hounds would be running the other way.

How pretty...but I have an easy fix for the cut and paste "layering error" we have here. Add a little cast shadow just behind the wolf's right side...see how the light is making the trees cast a shadow to the right? Same with the fox, darken the central left side of him to add depth and realism, plus a little cast shadow on the ground.

Also, the fox is too big to echo Raphael's observation. Little details like this will make it appear more realistic, most people realize from memory this is "wrong" so to speak, even if it is subconscious.

Rapahel: Well, thanks. I've never seen a wolf nor a fox in my life. I even saw snow once in my life. It's really sad I showed this image to lots of people while doing it, and no one pointed that mistake. Well, that can be easily fixed.

I've seen foxes before and I know their real size but hey! you're not photografer,aren't you? Comon!you're allowed to exagerate proportions and whatever you want! besides if you still want to be hyperrealistic you should consider the perspective(which you do very well)so I think the animals're alright and don't need any change.Awesome work

Yeah there is some background with fore and background as you mentioned.
Away from this I love white wolfs.
They are beauties.
The background looks very realistic to me.
You have to look twice to find out if it's real or not.

Wonderful work May - I am torn between liking the background or not - it's totally beautifully painted and it looks extremely realistic - but I can't decided if it fits the animals (no clue why though).

The animals are done beautifully. Specially the fur - I don't think I could paint fur like that EVER
